Giving the joy of movement to the world

Although motion capture technology is often spoken of in the context of the entertainment field, such as videogames, RDS applies this technology in such fields as medical care, welfare, and sports.

Methods of movement and ranges of mobility such as for people in wheelchairs and those using crutches are measured, and through our in-house ergonomic expert’s data analysis we implement a feedback loop back into our products. Things which were performed by intuition until now can be completely verified and gathered as data, allowing the realization of product manufacturing with an even greater degree of precision. RDS also contributes to development in the fields of sports, for example utilizing methods such as measuring the seating positions of chair skiing athletes to reduce race times, working together with athletes such as World Cup athlete Taiki Morii (Toyota Motor Corporation), Kenji Natsume (RDS), and Momoka Muraoka (Waseda University).

At RDS, we work together with university research institutes to develop original measurement equipment, with focus placed on efforts to provide all people the joy of movement, walking, and running.
